I am extremely thankful for a lifetime of opportunities
Yesterday I was in my wife’s car and happened to be listening to Howard Stern for couple minutes while I was running an errand. My wonderful wife Noelle, is a big Howard Stern fan and has been one for close to 30 years now.
Howard had a guest on that I was able to listen to a few minutes of his interview and it put me in such a state of gratitude I wanted to share it. Howard Stern’s guest was a rapper musician who goes by the name “Game” his birth name is Jayceon Taylor. He was on to promote the release on December 11th of his fifth album “Jesus Piece”. Game was sharing a little bit of his amazing life history and Howard was just fascinated with his background and the fact that he survived the childhood circumstances that he faced. Game grew up in South LA – the Compton area of Los Angeles. He told a few of the stories of his childhood: having 14 brothers and sisters; being put in foster care at age of six; being a member of The Bloods gang; watching brothers and friends being murdered and killed in the streets; his involvement in the drug trade. He also shared another common story how Athletics brought some substance to his life in high school and kept him busy and focused for a while in his youth
When I heard about his circumstances and the challenges he faced – the fact that he’s currently a musician, successful entrepreneur, hollywood actor and has amassed a net worth of over $20 million. Those accomplishments are amazing with a more mainstream life background. His circumstances did not define him – they gave him the frame to his masterpiece and he crafted the work of art that is his life. It is incredible how he’s been able to raise himself up above the circumstances that he was born into not circumstances that he brought on himself to begin with. He entered life in these terrible circumstances and literally had no idea of what it was like better than what he was born into. Yet despite his circumstances he is an incredible example of how you can better yourself and be a successful entrepreneur.
What Terrible Circumstances Make Me Grateful For
My Opportunities In Life
It really made me appreciative and grateful for two things. The first is personal to me. I am so grateful for the life that I was born into! That at times I’ve not made the best of – honestly, but what I was born into, the family that I grew up in, the opportunities that were around me I’m so grateful for! Yes I am focused on improving my life and living it to the best. Looking back I know as I grew up I didn’t take advantage of a lot of the opportunities that I had. I cannot change that and have no regrets. It is in the past. I know I took many opportunities for granted more often than I took advantage. And yet I am incredibly grateful for what I was born into and for the incredible love and support I had around me. The alternatives really are frightening.
A Life That Allows All To Improve Their Life – No Matter What Their Circumstances
The second thing I’m so grateful for from hearing this story is I’m just grateful for hearing about Game’s story because it really does show that regardless of the circumstances you’re either born into OR you put yourself into through the choices that you make you. You still can rise above them, you still can choose to do the best with them you can each day, you can still overcome them and you can take advantage of them. His story is somewhat different in that it’s not like he was born of these terrible circumstances and then became an athlete and removed himself from those circumstances and the environment that he was in. he did not follow that path in improving his life. He did the best with what he had and was in – whike staying fully immersed in his terrible circumstances. Games story demonstrates that there are many paths to living your life the best that you can each moment and his path is one of he did the best with the circumstances that were in his life – his horrible circumstances and he followed a path of music. He was not born as an incredibly talented musician. He found a path that was within his circumstances, took advantage of that to the max and lives a great life. There were things that you could hear in his story like even though he sold drugs as a teenager and a young adult with his family members and his gang members he didn’t use those drugs. He did spend time in jail numerous times like three times he said he was in jail as he was growing up. But he learned from those experiences and he didn’t want to go back there so he made different choices along the way of things that he knew were unrecoverable from. Life Is A Long Journey – We Must Be Persistent
So today I give thanks for my life and the life I was born into. The many opportunities that have been around me growing up and the opportunities that are here with me today and I give thanks for hearing stories of other people who have also taken advantage of circumstances and situations around them to better themselves.
